L5 Technology developed a module for iPhone and iPod Touch user to turn the device into a universal remote control. The module is named L5 remote. The module plugs it to your iPhone or iPod Touch and can submit IR signal to control your TV, DVR, cable box, etc.

You can download a free iPhone app from the AppStore for the software. The app provides a easy to use interface allowing you to drag and drop the control to customize the layout the way you want. It doesn’t consume any battery and can support up to 100,000 button or 1,000 remote.

The module and the app are not yet available. You have to sign up on the L5 Technology website for the actual release date.
